Our Classroom
2 to 3 years old
Intellectual
At this age, your toddler might be able to use 2-to-3-word sentences. They will be expanding their vocabulary and learning to use lots of words to incorporate into their sentences. We will also be working on recognizing letters and numbers as well as shapes and colors.
Emotional
Your toddler is going through lots of emotions while also learning about other people’s feelings. Temper tantrums are normal because children often don’t know how to put words to ‘big’ emotions like frustration, anger, embarrassment, and sadness. They will get to practice recognizing their own emotions as well as the emotions of their friends.
Physical
Your child will practice gross motor skills as they walk and run. They are starting to walk up and down stairs on their own but will sometimes use the rail for balance. They will also practice using their hands and arms by using crayons and paintbrushes as well as better at throwing overarm and catching a ball. They will also work on tracing their letters, numbers, and different shapes.
Social
Your child will enjoy playing with other children in activities like playing in the toy kitchen, driving toy trains or cars, and painting with their fingers or a brush. As they continually play with other children, they start to learn how to take turns.
